Our Guys - Rocky & Tiele
These are our guys! Rocky is a Goffins Cockatoo. We met Rocky when he was 3 1/2 months old and fell in love immediately. He became my engagement parrot. Mark and I had been engaged and broke up once before and had an engagement ring that had sentimental value. At the time, I had a candy store in Albany, NY with my parents. When Mark and I got back together, my customers joked that he would have to get me a new ring because the first one didn't work. So I joked that if we were going to spend a bunch of money, that I would like a cockatoo. I had wanted a cockatoo for a long, long time. So Rocky became my "Big Rock"! And he sits on my finger beautifully! He was born July 3, 1997.
Tiele was a "stray" bird that our sister-in-law found in her garage in California. He lived with her for about a year and then we "adopted" Tiele. He came back to New York on a plane with my parents. People didn't know he was on board and he would wolf whistle from time to time. People would look back and only see my dad and assume HE was the "pervert"!! hee hee
We had a similar incident when we lived in Connecticut. Tiele would sit by the window during the day and our apartment had an area below where a woman and her 16 year-old daughter went to sun bathe. She complained to the superintendent that some pervert was whistling at them. Luckily, I knew the superintendent well and he knew it was Tiele. We all had a good laugh!
Tiele is at least 16 years-old since we don't know how old he was when my sister-in-law found him.

Warning: Don't leave your bird alone with Poinsettia plants. They are poisonous.
